Border Collies Needing New 'Forever Homes' reg charity 1088503

Conditions and Rules of Adoption

You agree to lifetime ownership of the dog on the understanding that it is not used for re-sale or breeding and is kept as a house pet and/or working home.  Anyone found breeding for money will have the bitch/dog removed by the Rescue Administrator.   Full conditions below.

If unwanted at any time it must be returned to Valgrays, not sold, given away or put down.  A friendly visit may be made twice a year.  Should the dog be found uncared for at any time, the Administrator reserves the right to retrieve the dog without further notice.

CONDITIONS OF ADOPTION:

The aforementioned dog is put into your care on the definite understanding that the following conditions are understood and adhered to:

If, for any reason and at any time you are unable to keep the dog, it must be returned to Valgrays Border Collie Rescue.

Under no circumstance may the dog be passed into other hands or destroyed without written permission from Valgrays Border Collie Rescue.  Unless:  A court of Summary Jurisdiction has made an order for the destruction of the dog in accordance with Section 2 of the Dogs Act 1871 and Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 or a qualified Veterinary Surgeon has certified the dog should be destroyed on medical grounds.

The dog must be housed indoors or in accommodation approved by Valgrays Border Collie Rescue.  It must be properly cared for and qualified veterinary treatment provided in the case of illness or accident, the cost of such treatment must be paid for by you.

An authorised member of Valgrays Border Collie Rescue may make a friendly visit to your home at a convenient time to ensure that the dog is settled and happy.  Should the dog be found uncared for at any time, the Valgrays Border Collie Rescue reserves the right to remove the dog without further notice or interference.

No dog or bitch may be used for breeding purposes.  Any dog or bitch must be spayed or castrated (if not already done by Valgrays Border Collie Rescue).

At all times the dog must be properly fed, groomed and exercised and kept as a house pet and/or working dog.  If in doubt as to feeding, grooming or exercise please contact Valgrays Border Collie Rescue.

Qualified Veterinary treatment must be provided to ensure that the dog is regularly inoculated against all usual diseases and disorders.

You must ensure that the dog has a collar with your name, address and telephone number permanently engraved on a disc attached to the collar.  The fact that the dog is Microchipped must also be clearly visible.

You must inform Valgrays Border Collie Rescue if you change your address or phone number during the time you have the adopted dog.

All Valgrays Border Collie Rescue dogs are Microchipped and registered to Valgrays.  Therefore if they ever go missing we will always be able to re-unite with the owner (please see change of address clause above).

An adoption donation is payable.   A two week trial period is given with each dog.

For the avoidance of doubt notwithstanding the aforementioned conditions, ownership of the dog within the meaning of Section 2 of the Dogs Act 1871 (and any supplementary enactments) passes to you upon adoption.  Thus it is for you to ensure that the dog is kept under proper control and it is against you that the Court of Summary of Jurisdiction may make an order for the dog to be kept under proper control or destroyed.
