Donations would be wonderful ... (see below for where to send donations)

You can help by either donating money direct to Valgrays, or by fund raising in any capacity you can think of (see below for ideas!).  It is of course excellent if you do come up with ideas to fund raise; but (there is always a but isn't there!) ideas are brilliant, but if you have one, how about making it a personal project to see the 'idea' through from thinking stage to producing the money?  Oh yes, that means actually doing the fund raising yourself or getting a group together to do it.  Sadly existing volunteers are already up to their eyes in it .. so what do you say Valgray Owners (and supporters) are you up to the challenge???

Ways to raise funds:

  • Buy from Waggitt during 11 Feb to 15th March 2009
  • Give us your unwanted (preferrably still working) mobile phone
  • Give us your used aluminium (cans, food trays, take away trays, bottle tops) Please Note that some cans are steel and are NO use to us - please ensure you always check the cans (see below)
  • Straight forward donation (see below for address)
  • Give us anything (preferrably 'doggy') that we could sell on our various Table Top Sales through the year
  • Birthday or Christmas  - give a donation on behalf of others and we can provide a card and certificate
  • Getting married & maybe don't need so many pressies?  Think of asking guests to donate to Valgrays instead
  • Ebay (selling items)
  • Consider thinking of Valgrays in your will  ( click here to view/download how to leave us money in your will )
  • Consider a monthly donation
  • Bring and Buy / Coffee mornings
  • Table top sales
  • Car Boot sales
  • Raffle at dog club or work
  • 'Dare to Wear Pink' day at club or work
  • Doing sponsored 'things'
  • Sell your 'talent' for an hour or a day and donate funds to Valgrays
  • Run a dog show or event for Valgrays
  • Donate one class from your dog show with proceeds to Valgrays?
  • Would any company like to advertise on our website for a yearly fee (strict requirements would have to be met)?

Also - items always wanted:

  • Bedding (vet bed, etc)
  • Collars - always needed
  • Leads, harnesses, head collars, etc
  • Dog coats (for older rescues)
  • Dog Treats / Toys / Chews
  • Unused veterinary medication)

Please SAVE ALUMINIUM to help our funds ...

Please save any of these items please (thoroughly WASH & SQUASH all items):

  • Take away trays, food trays, containers, milk bottle tops, drink cans, some beer cans, aluminium foil  etc in fact anything that is aluminium?
  • TEST cans with a magnet - if magnet sticks to can its NO good for us.
  • There is a (tiny) symbol on aluminium cans ... it is a circle with arrows on it & inside circle it says 'alu' - these are the ones we need & a magnet won't stick to it.
  • Cans that have a (tiny) triangular symbol with 'steel' written inside are NOT suitable (and they are magnetic).

IMPORTANT:  Cans that I already know are NO use (as they are steel) are:

  • NO USE:  Pepsi, 7Up, Tango, Tesco Imported Lager (blue can) 1664 & Carling lager (white can).
  • NO USE:  Sweet wrappers, dog treat pouches, chocolate wrappers are NO use (they are actually plastic although they look like foil).
  • NO USE:  Food cans are NO use (they are steel) however some pilchard tins are aluminium (look for symbol).

Please thoroughly WASH (dishwasher will do it!)  & SQUASH CANS COMPLETELY FLAT (not just bent/creased in middle) all items, store them in a bag or box and then pass them to:

  • Valgrays directly
  • VAL PHILLIPS (Renault Trafic Van at agility shows)
  • MARIAN O'NEILL (Cherry Red Nissan Primera M654 - but sometimes travels with Val at agility shows)
  • SHIRLEY (old red 'N' reg Toyota Van) at Southern obedience shows
  • JO BRAMHALL  (white Movana Van  K9 J-V)  at Midland/Northern obedience shows.

PLEASE DO NOT POST IT TO US - WE HAVE HAD REQUESTS FOR RETURN OF POSTAGE COSTS AND THAT IS MORE THAN THE ALUMINIUM IS WORTH TO US.

Marian has found a source that will pay her for aluminium by weight, its not alot, but every penny will go towards helping the dogs at Valgrays.  So if you please have the space to store these items, please please do this for the dogs at Valgrays, and it helps the environment by recycling!  (Maybe even raid your neighbours recycling boxes - drop a note in your neighbours doors, and ask dog club members for their used aluminium) !!!

Help Valgrays .. Save Mobile Phones for us ..

We can now turn mobile phones into Valgrays funding.  If you have a mobile phone that you no longer use (preferrably working - but doesn't have to be), please donate it to Valgrays.

Shirley can collect at an obedience show and Marian or Val could collect at agility shows (see new dogs page for next show dates). Email Shirley for any other drop off point near to you: shirley4valgraysXhotmail.co.uk (swop X for @ symbol).

Please help Valgrays ..

WOW  118,000  visits to this site - that is amazing, if only each one of you readers were just to send us £1 or a small donation it would help our rescue work out so much.  Without funds the dogs cannot be helped ... we are in urgent need of funding.  Perhaps your club can offer a raffle, coffee morning, or even donate one class from your next dog show, or just dig deep into your pockets and donate ... remember it is for the dogs and every penny helps ... please please help valgrays as with no funds we cannot help these poor unwanted dogs ... what with feeding, veterinary costs and general care it takes all the donations we have come in .. we just cannot survive without funds for these dogs .... please please help.   See HOW TO DONATE BELOW.  Thank you.

Note from Shirley:  Cost example of dog recently homed:   Transport cost to get dog into rescue £20, vet fees £50, worming, flea treatment, microchip etc £15 donation received £100 ... so that leaves £15 for food, heating, bedding etc .. and this particular dog was already neutered so we didn't have those costs to find!!!  The sums speak for themselves, like most rescues/charities we need your help to keep doing what we do .. please consider Valgrays as a charity to support .. thank you.
